Ajay Devgn's latest film, Maidaan, has been garnering immense praise for his portrayal of football coach Syed Abdul Rahim, under whose leadership the Indian football team achieved historic victories. The sports drama, directed by Amit Sharma, has been hailed as a must-watch, with many calling it Ajay Devgn's career-best performance.
Renowned filmmaker Karan Johar recently took to his Instagram stories to express his excitement about the film. Although he has yet to watch it, he shared, "Have heard the most incredible things about MAIDAAN!! I also can’t wait to watch what is universally touted as @ajaydevgn’s career-best performance!"
Maidaan narrates the inspiring story of coach SA Rahim and his football team's triumph at the 1962 Asian Games. The film not only highlights Rahim's coaching prowess but also pays tribute to the talented players of that era, including Chunni Goswami, PK Banerjee, Balaram, Franco, and Arun Ghosh.
Producer Boney Kapoor, who was deeply moved by Rahim's story, remarked, “I was amazed that not many are aware of someone as significant as Syed Abdul Rahim. He’s an unsung hero whose achievements must be saluted."

Ajay Devgn's dedication to the role has been widely praised. Kapoor added, "It takes someone like Ajay Devgn to play Syed Abdul Rahim. With him on board, I can just hope that our film inspires youngsters to play football and India soon to bring the World Cup home."

The film, released in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada, has opened to rave reviews, with audiences and critics lauding its storytelling and performances. Apart from Devgn, the film features Priyamani, Gajraj Rao, and a talented cast of young actors.
Meanwhile, Ajay Devgn's much-anticipated film Singham Again, slated for an August 15 release, has been postponed due to incomplete shooting schedules. A new release date is expected to be announced soon, possibly around Diwali, to avoid a clash with other major releases.
