The Kolkata doctor rape and murder case has shaken the entire nation. Several Bollywood celebrities from Alia Bhatt to Ayushmann Khurrana have condemned the crime and demanded justice for the victim on social media. Reacting to the same, Kareena Kapoor Khan asserted that there needs to be justice for this heinous crime. She also indirectly compared it with the Delhi Nirbhaya case and stated that even after 12 years the society has not changed.
The actress wrote on Instagram, “12 years later, the same story, the same protest. But we are still waiting for change.” The actress also added hashtags in the caption and wrote, ‘Justice For Moumita’, ‘Kolkata Rape And Murder Case’, ‘Violence Against Women’, ‘Justice For Women’, ‘Women Safety’ and ‘Freedom For Women’. Kareena also dropped a ‘heart-break’ emoji.
Netizens Reactions
As Kareena posted it on her Instagram, people appreciated that she has spoken about the issue. A user wrote, “Finally somebody prominent who used their position for the right thing. Respect!” Another said, “Thanks for speaking up. We need more people to understand that it's "NOT A DOCTOR'S ISSUE.” A comment read, “Your voice in the fight for justice for Moumita is truly inspiring. Thank you for standing up for what’s right and using your platform to bring awareness to such an important cause. Your support means the world, and together, we can make a difference. Earlier, Alia Bhatt shared a long post on Instagram and wrote, “Another brutal rape. Another day of realisation that women are not safe anywhere. Another horrific atrocity to remind us that it's been over a decade since the Nirbhaya tragedy, but still nothing much has changed.”
Ayushmann Khurrana recited a poem about women's safety on his Instagram account. He said, “Main bhi bina Kundi lagakar soti, Kaash main bhi ladka hoti, Jhalli banke daudti udti, Saari raat doston ke saath phirti, Kaash main bhi ladka hoti..." (I would sleep without locking the door, I wish I were a boy. Carefree, I would run and fly, Roaming with friends all night, I wish I were a boy...).”
