The Kerala Story 2 Stay Order: The Kerala High Court has imposed an interim stay on the release of the controversial film The Kerala Story 2. The stay on the release of the film was imposed by the court on February 26, just one day before the film was scheduled to be released, which was on 27th February. The stay was imposed by Justice Bechu Kurien Thomas while hearing petitions against the film. The petitioners argued that the film could upset the communal harmony in Kerala. The court has now asked the CBFC to review the objections.

Why Is The Kerala Story 2 Facing Controversy?

The controversy is mainly related to the alleged misrepresentation of facts related to Kerala. The petitioners have stated that the movie depicts sensitive matters in a manner that may generate inter-community tension. They have also stated that some matters and statements in the movie may not be entirely correct and may affect the image of the state.

The High Court has noted that the matters raised appear to be serious at this juncture. It has asked the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) to re-examine the grievances within two weeks. Until then, the release of the movie has been withheld.
