Ananya Panday is all set to showcase a powerful side of her acting skills in Kesari Chapter 2. The makers have unveiled her character poster, revealing her as Dilreet Gill, a determined lawyer. The film also stars Akshay Kumar and R. Madhavan in key roles.
In the newly released character teaser, Ananya is seen wearing a white saree while holding a file in her hands, portraying a composed and confident demeanour. Her voiceover in the teaser says, “Uss din Jallianwala Bagh me jo hua uska sach puri duniya ko pata chalna chahiye” (The truth of what happened that day at Jallianwala Bagh must be revealed to the world). This suggests that her character will play a significant role in uncovering the historical events of the time.

The film follows the events that unfolded after the Jallianwala Bagh massacre, with Akshay Kumar taking on the role of a stern lawyer fighting against British rule. R. Madhavan plays Neville McKinley in the movie. The teaser, released earlier this week, depicted an intense courtroom scene where Akshay’s character boldly stands up to a British judge who reminds him that he is still a “slave of the British Empire.” Akshay’s sharp response, “F** you,”* hints at the rebellious spirit of the film.

Kesari Chapter 2 serves as a sequel to the 2019 film Kesari, which depicted the Battle of Saragarhi. The first film narrated the heroic story of 21 Sikh soldiers of the 36th Sikh Regiment of the British Indian Army who fought against 10,000 Pashtun tribesmen in 1897. Parineeti Chopra played a pivotal role in the first chapter. With a hard-hitting subject and a stellar cast, Kesari Chapter 2 promises to be an intense historical drama. The film is set to release in theatres on April 18.
