The 2024 Seoul International Drama Awards (SDA) celebrated outstanding achievements in television drama from September 25 to September 27, held at the KBS Hall in Yeouido, Seoul. This annual event saw a record-breaking 346 submissions from 48 countries, making this year's ceremony, the nineteenth edition, one of the largest in SDA history.

Kim Hye Yoon, star of Lovely Runner, won the Outstanding Asia Star Award. In her acceptance speech, she thanked everyone involved in creating her character, Im Sol, including the writers, directors, actors and staff. Kim also expressed her gratitude to her fans, lovingly referred to as “hyeppyendings,” and her co-star Byeon Woo Seok. She shared her appreciation for the overwhelming votes that led to her win, promising to take on more diverse roles in the future.

Byeon Woo Seok, also a winner in the Outstanding Asia Star category, could not attend the ceremony due to prior overseas commitments. In a video message shared via social media, Byeon expressed his heartfelt thanks to his fans and noted how special Lovely Runner was to him. He promised to continue sharing memorable experiences with his supporters in the future.

SEVENTEEN’s subunit, BSS (DK, Hoshi, and Seungkwan), took home the Outstanding Korean Drama OST Award for their song The Reasons of My Smiles from Kdrama Queen of Tears. In their acceptance speech, they expressed their joy at being recognized alongside talented actors and thanked their fans for their unwavering support. They also took a moment to appreciate the actors and directors behind the drama for their inspiration, promising to keep striving for excellence.

Win Metawin, a popular Thai actor, won the Outstanding Asian Star award for Thailand. His agency, GMMTV, shared a heartfelt thank-you message, acknowledging the incredible support and votes from fans around the world. Popular Kdramas Moving and Queen of Tears also received recognition at the event. Lee Seung Won, CEO of Studio & New, accepted the award on behalf of Moving, while Executive Producer Lee Hye Young received the Queen of Tears’ award from Studio Dragon.

The Best Male Actor award went to Song Kang Ho for his performance in Uncle Samsik, while Mask Girl stars Ahn Jae Hong and Yeom Hye Ran took home Best Male Actor and Best Female Actress, respectively, sharing their heartfelt thanks during their speeches. The Seoul International Drama Awards 2024 proved to be a night of gratitude and celebration, honouring global talents and showcasing the ever-growing influence of television dramas.
