Telangana Minister Konda Surekha has apologised to actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu after facing significant backlash for her controversial remarks that linked latter's divorce from Naga Chaitanya to Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader KT Rama Rao. These comments ignited outrage on social media, drawing strong responses from numerous celebrities and fans alike. In response, KTR has issued legal notices to Surekha, labeling her statements as 'baseless and defamatory.'
Konda Surekha Issued Apologises To Samantha-Naga
In her apology, Konda Surekha clarified that her comments were meant to highlight a leader's disrespect towards women and were not intended to hurt Samantha's feelings. "My comments are meant to question a leader's belittling of women and not to hurt your @Samanthaprabhu2 sentiments. The way you have grown up with self-power is not only an admiration for me.. but also an ideal. If you or your fans are offended by my comments, I unconditionally retract my comments..Don't think otherwise."

KTR Sends Legal Notices To Konda Surekha
K. T. Rama Rao, working president of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), issued a legal notice to Konda Surekha for defamation after she claimed he was involved in the divorce of Naga Chaitanya and Samantha. Rama Rao's lawyer demanded that she retract her statement and provide an unconditional public apology within 24 hours, asserting that her remarks were a 'malicious and defamatory act' that damaged his reputation. The notice also instructed Konda Surekha to refrain from any further defamatory actions. Should she fail to comply, KTR is prepared to take necessary legal measures against her.
"You along with media houses, have conspired to malign our client's reputation based on false information, assumptions, lies and frivolous allegations," reads the notice.
What Samantha said?
Samantha had earlier addressed Konda Surekha's remarks, emphasising that her divorce is a personal issue and urging people to avoid such speculations. She said, "To clarify: my divorce was mutual consent and amicable, with no political conspiracy involved. To be a woman, to come out and work, to survive in a glamorous industry where women are more often than not treated as props, to fall in love and to fall out of love, to still stand up and fight…It takes a lot of courage and strength."
