L2 Empuraan Movie  Controversy

L2: Empuraan is expected to have about 17 sequences removed after it sparked a fierce outcry from right-wing fans over what seemed to be allusions to the Gujarat riots of 2002. Due to 'a lot of pressure,' the producers of the Mohanlal-starring movie are thinking of making 'voluntary cuts,' with knowledge of the situation, The Hindu stated.

Baba Bajrangi, the antagonist who leads a mob, is reportedly going to have his name changed as part of the 17 suggested deletions. Baba Bajrangi appears to be a reference to Babu Bajrangi, the leader of the Bajrang Dal, who was implicated as a major conspirator in the Naroda Patiya massacre during the Gujarat riots of 2002. Serious accusations against Bajrangi included rioting, unlawful assembly, inciting a crowd, murder, attempted murder and criminal conspiracy.
