L2: Empuraan Pre-Sales: Mohanlal's highly anticipated Malayalam action thriller, L2: Empuraan, has achieved a remarkable feat by shattering a massive record in advance booking. This impressive accomplishment surpasses the records set by big-budget films from the Bollywood and Tollywood industries. The unprecedented demand for tickets across the state of Kerala has contributed to this record-breaking response, with the film's pre-sales opening on March 21.
L2: Empuraan Pre-Sales
According to Sacnilk, L2: Empuraan sold an astonishing 628,000 tickets within the first 24 hours on the ticketing platform BookMyShow, thereby setting a new record. Prior to L2: Empuraan's remarkable achievement, no film had ever managed to sell more than 350,000 tickets within the first 24 hours of opening advance booking on the platform.
The previous record holder was the Prabhas-starrer Kalki 2898 AD, which had sold an impressive 341,780 tickets on its first day. However, Empuraan has now surpassed this record by a significant margin, nearly doubling the previous best. Notably, even a big-budget Bollywood film like Shah Rukh Khan's Jawan trails behind, having sold 253,000 tickets. It's worth mentioning that the 628,000 tickets sold for Empuraan are for all days, not just the opening day. As the movie prepares to hit the theatres on March 27, it has already generated immense excitement, with over 500,000 tickets sold for the opening day alone – the highest ever for a Malayalam title by a substantial margin.
Empuraan has generated impressive advance gross collections, earning around Rs 12 crores in India on its first day, including fan shows. Worldwide, pre-sales have surpassed Rs 30 crores, setting a new record for the highest first-day collection for a Mollywood film. With four days left until its release, Empuraan is poised to break more box office records.
About the movie: L2: Empuraan is directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran and written by Murali Gopy. The film is a collaborative production of Aashirvad Cinemas, Sree Gokulam Movies and Lyca Productions. Serving as the second installment in a planned trilogy, L2: Empuraan is a sequel to the 2019 film Lucifer. The movie boasts an ensemble cast, featuring Mohanlal in the titular role, alongside notable actors such as Prithviraj Sukumaran, Manju Warrier, Tovino Thomas and Indrajith Sukumaran, among others.
