Lakshya Re-release Date: 'Lakshya' is one of the most popular movies of Hrithik Roshan and Farhan Akhtar's career and has gained a cult fan following over the years. The movie has turned 20 this year and is still getting a lot of love from the fans. Filmmaker Farhan Akhtar has now announced that 'Lakshya' will release in theatres again and fans are over the moon. The movie also stars Preity Zinta in the lead role.

'Lakshya' will release in theatres on June 21.

Announcing the release date, Excel Movies wrote, "Come, relive the journey of a film that ignited countless dreams and inspired generations. Celebrating 20 years of Lakshya, back in cinemas on 21st June."

'Lakshya' is based against the backdrop of the 1999 Kargil War and revolves around Karan Shergill, who is a rich but aimless and lazy young man. He joins the Indian Army and transitions into a hero in the 1999 Kargil War.

While speaking to Col Bheemaiah P.S. in 'Mission Frontline', Farhan talked about his memories in Ladakh. He said, "2003 is when we shot ‘Lakshya’ so before that I spent a lot of time in Ladakh mainly but now when I am here, I really feel very nostalgic about it. The time that we spent because you became a family and I think of them dearly today and I miss them a lot.”

Talking about the military training, he said "Every time you hold this weapon in your hand, it definitely does something to you. When you know the reason behind using this weapon and also in what situation, it fills you with a sense of responsibility.”

The movie also stars Boman Irani, Amitabh Bachchan, Sharad Kapoor, Om Puri, Sushant Singh, Parmeet Sethi, Aditya Srivastava, Ranvir Shorey and Abhimanyu Singh in pivotal roles.
