Sidhu Moosewala’s Assassination

Sidhu Moosewala tragically lost his life in a brutal shooting incident on May 29, 2022. The incident occurred in Jawaharke village of Mansa, where Moosewala was shot dead by unidentified assailants in his car at the young age of 28. Lawrence Bishnoi's gang initially claimed responsibility for the murder through an unverified Facebook post, but Bishnoi later denied making the statement. As of June 2022, Bishnoi was in custody of the Punjab Police and was considered the mastermind behind the murder by officials.

For the unversed, Moosewala was among the 424 individuals whose police security was reduced or entirely removed a day before the incident. This decision was made in preparation for the anniversary of Operation Blue Star, resulting in Moose Wala being left with only two commandos instead of the earlier four. 

On the day of the incident, Moose Wala was traveling in his private car with two others, opting not to use his bullet-proof vehicle with the commandos. According to his friends, the reason for this decision was that his Thar SUV could not accommodate five people, highlighting a lapse in security arrangements that ultimately proved fatal.
