Lokesh Kanagaraj, who was recently seen alongside Shruti Haasan in their latest music video titled 'Inimel,' provided an update on the shooting progress of Superstar Rajinikanth's upcoming film, 'Thalaivar 171', during a media interaction. The director revealed that the pre-production for the film itself is expected to take about 4-5 months, with filming set to commence from June of this year onwards. An official announcement regarding the commencement date will be made in the forthcoming weeks.
Furthermore, there are speculations that the title teaser of the film could be unveiled in April, with an official announcement expected soon. Lokesh Kanagaraj engaged with the media on March 25 during the promotion of his music video, 'Inimel', alongside Shruti Haasan. In the music video, Lokesh and Shruti play the lead roles, with the latter conceptualising and composing the song, while Kamal Haasan penned the lyrics.

Provind update, Lokesh said, "The pre-production work is still going on. The film will go on floors in June. The entire process will take around 1 to 1 and a half years. One month after the completion of 'Thalaivar 171', we will begin 'Kaithi 2' with Karthi. So, the work has been going on."
With a tentative title of 'Thalaivar 171', the movie signifies the initial partnership between Lokesh Kanagaraj and Rajinikanth. Produced on an extensive scale by Sun Pictures, the film commenced its journey in September 2023. Additionally, he revealed his plans to commence shooting for 'Kaithi 2'.
Rajinikanth's other projects
Rajinikanth is currently engaged in the shooting of his upcoming film, "Vettaiyan", under the direction of TJ Gnanavel. This project boasts an ensemble cast including actors such as Amitabh Bachchan, Fahadh Faasil, Rana Daggubati, Manju Warrier, Rithika Singh, and others in pivotal roles. The film, described as an action-drama, is being filmed at various locations across India, with Rajinikanth portraying the character of a retired police.
