Malayalam Movies Representing LGBTQIA+ Community On OTT: Malayalam movie 'Kaathal The Core' has impressed the audience and the critics with its unique storyline. The movie revolves around Mathew Devassy, who is a retired bank manager and decides to enter local panchayat elections. His life takes a different turn when his wife Omana files for divorce and claims that Mathew is a homosexual. Starring Mammootty and Jyothika, this is the first time mainstream actors and superstars have portrayed the roles focusing on the LGBTQIA+ community. 3. Chanthupottu

'Chanthupottu' revolves around Radhakrishnan, whose grandmother raised him in an effeminate manner as she always wanted a granddaughter. He grows up to have feminine behaviour but things take a turn when he falls in love with his friend Malu, a woman. The movie does not showcase queer relationships but portrays a man with feminine mannerisms, which is uncommon in movies. The movie stars Dileep, Indrajith Sukumaran, Lal, Biju Menon and Gopika in the lead roles. The movie is available to watch on YouTube for free.

4. Moothon

'Moothon' is set in Kamathipura and follows the story of a young teenager trying to find the truth about the fearless gangster Akbar. The movie stars Nivin Pauly, Shashank Arora, Sobhita Dhulipala, Melissa Raju Thomas, Sanjana Dipu and Roshan Mathew in the lead roles. The movie is streaming on Zee5 and Aha Movies.
