Popular OTT Web Series: Panchayat is one of the most beloved web shows on OTT, stars Jitendra Kumar, Raghubir Yadav, Neena Gupta, Sanvikaa, Chandan Roy, Durgesh Kumar, Ashok Pathak, Faisal Malik, and Sunita Rajwar. Now that Season 3 has begun streaming and based on early reviews, 'Panchayat 3' is certainly living up to the hype. The series, crafted by writer Chandan Kumar and director Deepak Kumar Mishra, is receiving praise from viewers. Amid this, there are related web series including Aspirants, Tripling To Kota Factory available on platforms such as Netflix, Prime Video, ZEE5, Hotstar and JioCinema among others.
Aspirants (Amazon Prime Video)
Produced by The Viral Fever (TVF) and created by Arunabh Kumar and Shreyansh Pandey, the series is written by Deepesh Sumitra Jagdish and directed by Apoorv Singh Karki. It stars Naveen Kasturia, Shivankit Parihar, Abhilash Thapliyal, Namita Dubey, and Sunny Hinduja. The story follows three friends, Abhilash, Guri, and SK, who are preparing for the UPSC exam at Rajinder Nagar, Delhi. In October 2023, TVF announced the second season, which premiered on Amazon Prime Video on 25 October 2023.
Tripling (ZEE5)
Created by The Viral Fever, starring Vyas, Gagroo, and Parashar, follows three siblings on a journey of self-discovery and reconciliation. The first season premiered in 2016, receiving praise, while the second season debuted in 2019 to mixed reviews. Renewed for a third season in 2021, it aired on ZEE5 in 2022, exploring the siblings' response to their parents' divorce.
Kota Factory (Netflix/JioCinema)
Created by Saurabh Khanna and directed by Raghav Subbu, it is produced by Arunabh Kumar for The Viral Fever, it depicts the life of 16-year-old Vaibhav (Mayur More) in Kota, Rajasthan, known for its coaching centers. The show chronicles Vaibhav's journey to crack the IIT-JEE exam, alongside stars like Jitendra Kumar, Ahsaas Channa, and others. Premiering in April 2019, the series received praise for its portrayal of Kota's educational environment.
Yeh Meri Family (Amazon Prime Video)
The comedy-drama web series created and directed by Sameer Saxena for The Viral Fever is written by Saurabh Khanna. The series revolves around 12-year-old Harshu Gupta, played by Vishesh Bansal, and his family in Jaipur, Rajasthan, during the late 1990s. Alongside Bansal, the cast includes Mona Singh, Akarsh Khurana, Ahan Nirban, Ruhi Khan, and Prasad Reddy. It received positive reviews, lauded for its nostalgic elements and the performances of the cast. Set against the backdrop of Jaipur in 1998, the series offers a glimpse into the lives of the Gupta family and their daily trials and triumphs, as seen through the eyes of young Harshu.
Taj Mahal 1989 (Zee5)
Comedy-drama romance series directed and written by Pushpendra Nath Misra, stars Neeraj Kabi, Geetanjali Kulkarni, Sheeba Chaddha, and Danish Husain, the show is set in Lucknow in 1989. It delves into the perspectives of various characters on love. Released on Netflix on 14 February 2020, the series captures the challenges of finding and sustaining love in a pre-Internet era. The plot revolves around a Lucknow University professor couple, their students, a long-lost friend and his lover, and a schoolgirl infatuated with an older boy. Through their daily experiences, the series explores the evolution and complexity of love.
The Aam Aadmi Family (Zee5)
The series directed by Apoorv Singh Karki, originally debuted on The Timeliners YouTube channel, the series gained popularity with 10 million views. The first season starred Lubna Salim, Gunjan Malhotra, Chandan Anand, Kamlesh Gill, and Brijendra Kala. Over time, three seasons were released on the platform. Premiering on 24 November 2023, the series continues to depict the lives of a middle-class family, with Sharma as the father (Brijendra), Madhu as the mother (Lubna), Bobby as the mischievous son (Chandan), and Sonu as the beloved daughter (Gunjan). Kamlesh Gill portrays Daadi, the spirited grandmother of the household.
Gullak (Sony Liv)
Created by Shreyansh Pandey, the series is produced by The Viral Fever (TVF). Centered around the Mishra family, including Santosh and Shanti Mishra and their sons Anand 'Annu' Mishra and Aman Mishra, the series stars Jameel Khan, Geetanjali Kulkarni, Vaibhav Raj Gupta, and Harsh Mayar in leading roles, with Sunita Rajwar as their neighbour.
