Maharaj OTT Release: Aamir Khan's son, Junaid Khan, is set to make his highly anticipated Bollywood debut in the upcoming period drama Maharaj. Directed by Siddharth P Malhotra and produced by Aditya Chopra’s YRF Entertainment, the film also stars Shalini Pandey and Jaideep Ahlawat.

The recently unveiled film’s first poster features Junaid Khan and Jaideep Ahlawat. Junaid sports long hair, a moustache, a white shirt and a brown waistcoat, while Jaideep appears as a Hindu priest with a ponytail and a long tilak on his forehead. The film is based on true events and promises an intriguing tale of a battle for truth between a powerful man and a fearless journalist.

When and Where to Watch Maharaj on OTT?

Junaid Khan's debut movie Maharaj will be available for streaming on Netflix from June 14, 2024. Set in the year 1862, Maharaj explores a pivotal moment in Indian history. During this period, India had only three universities, Rabindranath Tagore was just a year old, and the flames of the Sepoy Mutiny of 1857 were still burning.

The movie centres around Karsandas Mulji, a journalist and social reformer who advocated for women’s rights and social change. Mulji, a student at Elphinstone College and a protégé of the scholar-leader Dadabhai Naoroji, became known for his bold writings on widow remarriage and his defence of the oppressed.

The narrative of Maharaj is driven by the landmark legal battle known as the Maharaj Libel Case of 1862. Sparked by allegations of misconduct against a prominent figure, this case drew significant public attention and set the stage for one of the most notable legal confrontations of the time.

Maharaj also features a special appearance by Sharvari Wagh, adding more star power to this anticipated release.

Born in 1994 to Aamir Khan and his first wife, Reena Dutta, Junaid Khan has already begun carving out his own path in the film industry. Besides Maharaj, he is involved in two other projects. Junaid is set to make his debut as a producer with Pritam Pyaare, which will feature an extended guest appearance by Aamir Khan. Additionally, he will star in another film produced by Aamir Khan Productions, co-starring Sai Pallavi.
