About Maharani

'Maharani' is a Hindi-language drama streaming television series that debuted in 2021, created by Subhash Kapoor. The first season, helmed by director Karan Sharma, was followed by Season 2 under the direction of Ravindra Gautam. The show features Huma Qureshi in the lead role, supported by a cast including Sohum Shah, Amit Sial, Kani Kusruti, and Inaamulhaq.

This multi-season political drama draws inspiration from various events in Bihar during the 1990s, particularly the time when Lalu Prasad Yadav nominated his homemaker wife Rabri Devi as his successor. Season 1, spanning from 1995 to 1999, takes cues from real-life incidents and characters such as the Ranvir Sena, left-wing militants, Naxalite groups, the Communist Party of India (Marxist–Leninist) Liberation, the 1997 Laxmanpur Bathe massacre, Fodder Scam, and Brahmeshwar Singh.
