Mahesh Babu To Play Lord Krishna In Prabhas Starrer Kalki 2? Here Is What Nag Ashwin Said

Nag Ashwin's directorial Kalki 2898 AD is one of the biggest blockbusters of 2024. The sci-fi mythological drama featured Amitabh Bachchan, Prabhas, Deepika Padukone and Kamal Haasan in key roles. Apart from showcasing the scientific part in the future, the movie also delved into some parts of the epic Mahabharata. Where Krishna was not revealed, Prabhas played the role of Karna and Amitabh Bachchan portrayed Ashwathama (in the entire movie). Notably, the director of the film Nag Ashwin, who is busy making the sequel, hinted that ‘Mahesh Babu will be apt’ to play the role of Krishna. 

While addressing the media, Ashwin said “I did not want to show the face of Lord Krishna in the Kalki universe. But, if there is a full-length role, I think Mahesh Babu will be apt. I believe the film would collect huge numbers.” 

“I really love Mahesh Babu garu in the film Khaleja. The situation is so beautiful. Even if we imagine him in the role of Krishna, I am sure he will pull it off.” 

Notably, the first part had a net collection of Rs 646.31 crore, whereas the worldwide collection is Rs 1042.25 crore. The fIlm also features Disha Patani, Dulquer Salmaan, Anna Ben, Mrunal Thakur, Shobana, Krishnakumar Balasubramanian, Malvika Nair, Saswata Chatterjee, Vijay Deverakonda and Keerthy Suresh. The film was made on a budget of Rs 600 crore. It was released in theatres on June 27, 2024. The Hindi version of the film is streaming on Netflix and the southern version of the film is on Prime Video. The shooting of the sequel is expected to begin 2025. However, the release date has not been disclosed yet. The key actors in the first part will be reprising their roles in Kalki 2, as per reports.
