Malaikottai Vaaliban X Review: Mohanlal's highly anticipated film, directed by Lijo Jose Pellissery, has released, marking the first collaboration between the acclaimed actor and the visionary director. The film, promoted as Mohanlal's transformation, has created significant anticipation in the lead-up to its release. Drawing inspiration from Gulliver’s Travels, 'Malaikottai Vaaliban' is a period fantasy film featuring Mohanlal in the titular role, an aging fighter or warrior. The narrative follows his journey from village to village, participating in fights and earning recognition.
A potential romance develops with Rangapattinam Rangarani, portrayed by Sonalee Kulkarni. However, complications arise as Malaikottai Vaaliban engages in a dispute with Chamathakan, played by Danish Sait, over Rangarani. This conflict leads to a challenge and a subsequent fight in Chamathakan's village, Mangodu. Initial reviews suggest a positive response, with particular praise for the first half of the movie. However, some viewers noted that the first half felt slow and lacked a clear direction. A user wrote, "#MalaikottaiVaaliban is an ambitious film, set in desert villages, amidst a few bouts of a powerful warrior. It works well like a 'Western Film'. One can't call it great or poor, for the mere inexistence of a comparable film from India. Cinematography, LJP& #Mohanlal - BRAVO!"
Another added, "#Malaikottaivaaliban First Half : Slow Paced Till Interval, Mangattu Kalari & Interval Scenes Are The High Moments.. Technically & Visually Top Notch. Promising Interval Block.. Pakka LJP Movie.. Looking Forward To Second Half." A third comment read, "#MalaikottaiVaaliban Review-- FIRST HALF:Decent, #Mohanlal looks like a beast & is good, Rest of the cast are huge, Editing approach looks similar to films like Drunken Master etc. (especially that title card), Frames, #MalaikottaiVaaliban #MalaikottaiVaalibanReview.' Approached as a pure LJP stuff but still didn't worked for me
Apart from exceptional cinematography, Making & Lalettan's performance, nothing much to offer
Worst fight choreography and editing in the history of mollywood 😑 pic.twitter.com/wDp4IYBsDx
#15/2024#MalaikottaiVaaliban #LJP's worst till date...It's made in a stage-drama mode with no massy or clap worthy moments and emotional connect. #Mohanlal as Vaaliban and visuals are the only positives.#TinuPappachan should be sued for creating over-hype 👊

People who expect a typical Mass Masala Movie of Mohanlal would be disappointed..🙏
Moviegoers should go out themselves and experience the technical brilliance this movie is made out of..🔥🌟#MalaikottaiVaaliban #Mohanlal pic.twitter.com/9AImghJrfB
#MalaikottaiVaaliban First Half - Too Average so far🚶
— AmuthaBharathi (@CinemaWithAB) January 25, 2024
- Making of the movie is good💥
- Very slow screenplay. No Emotional connect & No Highlight scenes, Too Flat 🙁
- Mohanlal screen Presence saves the movie to extent 👌
- Interval point leaves with a good note...need a too… pic.twitter.com/NcLbTiNP5j
Lijo has talent their is no objection on that . but a character like Valiban could have satisfied the audience if a good mass masala director had got him !!!

Loved it ❤ Its not as Like the way fans expected. But its stills stands as a solid film with good high moments. Slow steady First Half with Second half which unfolds the betrayal & core ideas. Mohanlal🔥.LJP Music adds unique flavor.🔥Exited for Part 2 #MalaikottaiVaaliban pic.twitter.com/8AP6Dj1Ud3
