Malayalam actor Bala was granted conditional bail by the Ernakulam Judicial First Class Magistrate court just hours after his arrest on October 14. The case was filed following a complaint from his ex-wife, Amrutha Suresh, who alleged that Bala was defaming and insulting both her and their daughter, Avantika. Bala and his manager, Rajesh, were taken into custody in Kochi on the same day.

He has been specifically ordered to refrain from making any public comments about the case and to avoid speaking to the media. The 41-year-old actor and his wife separated in 2019 after marrying in 2010. His ex-wife is a well-known singer on television shows. Their relationship deteriorated over the years, leading to public disputes since 2015.

On October 14, Bala was arrested by the Kadavanthra police following accusations from his ex-wife, Amrutha Suresh, who claimed he insulted her and their daughter through social media posts. She alleged that his recent interviews and videos were damaging to their 12-year-old daughter, Avantika and accused him of giving paid online interviews about them. Bala has been charged under Section 75 of the Juvenile Justice Act. After the case was filed on October 12, he and his manager were taken into custody at the actor's residence in Kochi.

Meanwhile, Bala's attorney claims that the entire situation is merely a conspiracy, asserting that they will proceed according to the law. Despite their separation, tensions have escalated between the two in recent weeks, leading to heated exchanges. This conflict began when their daughter shared a video on social media alleging that Bala was tormenting her. He refuted these claims, stating on his social media that it was "the most painful experience" of his life, adding that a father who argues with his daughter is not a real man.

Bala comes from a highly regarded film family; both his father and grandfather are well-known figures in the industry and own Arunachala Studios. His father, Jeyakumar, has directed over 350 films and documentaries. Bala made his acting debut in a Telugu film in 2002 and has achieved significant success in South Indian cinema, including in the Malayalam film industry. He also made his directorial debut with the 2012 Malayalam action film The Hitlist, in which he starred as the lead.
