The Malayalam film industry has been facing public scrutiny after the Hema committee released a report of sexual harassment and discrimination faced by women working in Mollywood. Actress Minu Muneer has now made some shocking claims against Mukesh, Maniyanpilla Raju, Idavela Babu and Jayasurya and alleged that they physically and verbally abused her while she was working on a project in 2013. She made these claims in a long post on Facebook.

Minu Muneer wrote on Facebook, "I am writing to report a series of incidents of physical and verbal abuse I suffered at the hands of Mukesh, Maniyanpilla Raju, Idavela Babu, Jayasurya, Advocate Chandrasekharan, production controller Noble and Vichu, in the Malayalam film industry. In 2013, I was subjected to physical and verbal abuse by these individuals while working on a project. I tried to cooperate and continue working, but the abuse became unbearable. As a result, I was forced to leave the Malayalam film industry and relocate to Chennai. I had spoken out against the abuse in a newspaper article. I am now seeking justice and accountability for the trauma and suffering I endured. I request your assistance in taking action against them for their heinous actions."

According to Onmanorama, the actress also said, "I had worked in six films when I sought a membership with AMMA. Mukesh told me that I would have to sexually comply with them if I needed to be a part of the association."

Actor Maniyanpilla Raju also reacted to these accusations and called for a detailed investigation. He told the media, "Many more accusations are likely to emerge from people with various motives. Some may seek financial gain, while others who didn't receive film opportunities previously might come forward now. A thorough investigation is needed, as WCC points out."

He added, "Both sides should be examined, including any false complaints. As a founding member of AMMA and former vice president, I am unaware of any issues related to payments for membership."

The report by the Hema committee claimed that many women had to experience the casting couch and sexual harassment. It was pointed out that these harassments start from the beginning of the film's production as the female actors are made to believe that they should be willing to 'compromise' and make 'adjustments' to get work. The report added that many film sets fail to provide basic amenities such as toilets and changing rooms.
