Malayalam blockbuster Manjummel Boys  hit the theatres on February 22, 2024, and received overwhelmingly positive feedback from both viewers and critics alike. It achieved a remarkable milestone by becoming the first Malayalam film to surpass the Rs 200 crore mark, setting various records at the box office. However, after doing impressive business at the box office, filmmaker Karan Johar has shown interest in the film's Hindi remake.

Manjummel Boys Hindi Version In Works?

According to a report in Times Now, a Hindi version of the movie might be in the works soon. Mumbai-based production company, Dharma Production owned by Karan Johar, is interested in making the film in Hindi. However, things might not work in KJo’s favour as the producer of Manjummel Boys is not keen for the film's Hindi remake.

A source close to the writer told the publication, “He is being persuaded by a very large production house in Mumbai, perhaps the largest. But Shoubin rightly feels that Manjummel Boys is too rooted in the South — Kerala and Tamil Nadu. In no way can it be uprooted to another milieu.”

“Also, there is the film’s 'face' value. Manjummel Boys works so well because of the fresh faces. There are only two known names in the primary cast. In Hindi, they want to remake it with stars. That would kill the impact of the film,” the source further added.

The movie is inspired by a real event that took place in 2006. It tells the story of a bunch of pals hailing from a quaint town called Manjummel, situated near Kochi. These friends make a collective decision to embark on a vacation to Kodaikanal.

Manjummel Boys OTT Release

The movie is all set for its OTT debut. According to a report on FilmiBeat, Manjummel Boys is all set to release on Disney+ Hotstar on April 5, 2024.
