The South Indian film industry has caught everyone's attention with its blockbuster films over the years. Amid the epic blockbusters, the Malayalam film industry has found its popularity due to the simple and realistic portrayal of its characters. Malayalam cinema became more popular across the country during the pandemic through OTT and a bunch of intriguing Malayalam movies are lined to release in OTT in 2023 as well.

Headmaster:

Starring Babu Antony and Thampy Antony in the lead role, 'Headmaster' is based on Karoor Neelakanda Pillai's short story Pothichoru. The movie will release in 2023 and the official release date is not announced yet.

Anthology Based On MT Vasudevan Nair’s short stories

This anthology project will feature some big names from the Malayalam film industry and will have nine segments that are each about 40 minutes long. The directors involved are Priyadarshan, Ranjith, Santosh Sivan, and Rathish Ambat, among others. Meanwhile, Mohanlal, Mammootty, and Fahad Faasil will feature in this project. The official release date and the title are not announced yet.

2018: Everyone Is A Hero

'2018: Everyone Is A Hero' will release on June 7, 2023, on SonyLiv. The movie stars Kunchacko Boban, Tovino Thomas and Asif Ali in the lead role with Vineeth Sreenivasan, Aparna Balamurali, Kalaiyarasan, Narain, Lal, Indrans, Aju Varghese, Tanvi Ram, Sshivada, and Gauthami Nair in pivotal roles.

At an event, Tovino talked about the positive response received to his film. He said, "To get such overwhelmingly positive reviews for a film we shot mostly soaked in water is an amazing feeling. I can’t think of a single film that garnered 100% positive reviews on social media before. Maybe because this is a film every Malayalee feels close to his/her heart. We feel an emotional attachment to the film."

He added, "I remember crying when I read the script. But I didn’t tell anyone. Jude would be all over the location enacting the scenes for us. I remember waiting to go home once the sun comes out only to have a raincoat-clad Jude standing in water, writing down some scenes on a piece of paper that needs to be shot."

Sesham Mike-il Fathima:

Starring Kalyani Priyadarshan in the lead role, the movie will release on Netflix after its theatrical release. It also stars Femina, Sudhish, Sabumon, Shaheen Siddique and Shaju Sreedhar.
