Vijayakanth's demise on December 28 left a void in the industry. His mortal remains were placed at the party office, where fans and celebrities paid their final respects. Actor Vijay paid his emotional tribute to Vijayakanth, visibly moved by the moment. However, an unexpected incident occurred as the Leo actor was leaving the funeral, where an unidentified individual threw a slipper at him.

While attending his mentor Vijayakanth's funeral, Vijay was surrounded by an unruly crowd and media personnel. Amidst the chaos, someone threw a slipper at the actor.

Vijay navigated through a throng of enthusiastic fans to reach where Vijaykanth's body was, surrounded by his grieving family. Emotion overwhelmed the actor as he interacted with late actor' family and paid his respects, touching the glass coffin. Taking a brief moment to bid farewell, Vijay was swiftly engulfed by the crowd once more. Despite the efforts of police and security personnel to safeguard him, a few individuals managed to touch the actor. As he attempted to enter his car, a slipper was hurled at him, intercepted by his security, and tossed back into the crowd. Also, a fan attempted to kiss Vijay.

The mistreatment Vijay faced has stirred dismay among his fans and the public. Expressions like, "He's unable to even pay homage properly. Can understand fans' love, but this is not the right time, guys. The price celebrities have to pay," surfaced on social media. A user stressed, "There is a place and time for everything. All celeb fans have to show restraint and dignity when their idols come to pay their respects."

For the unversed, Vijay and Vijayakanth collaborated in the 1993 Tamil movie 'Senthoorapandi,' directed by Vijay's father, SA Chandrasekhar. Portraying on-screen brothers, the two actors developed a strong mutual respect.

DMDK leader Vijayakanth was hospitalised at The Miat Hospital in Chennai due to deteriorating health and passed away on Thursday. Following his passing, Kamal Haasan, Jr NTR, Rajinikanth along with various actors and politicians, expressed their condolences on their social media platforms.
