DMDK chief and actor Vijayakanth passed away at a private hospital in Chennai on December 28. His body is currently placed at the DMDK (Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam) office in Chennai for the public to pay their respects. Recently, Thalapathy Vijay visited the party office to pay tribute to Vijayakanth. Also, superstar Rajinikanth expressed his condolences, praising Vijayakanth's remarkable willpower. Rajinikanth is en route to Chennai to pay his respects and bid farewell to his dear friend.
Here's what Rajinikanth said
Rajinikanth, speaking from Tuticorin airport, expressed deep sorrow over Vijayakanth's passing, acknowledging him as a person of immense determination. "My heart aches. Vijayakanth was a man with great willpower. Lastly, I saw him at the DMDK's genral body meeting and thought he would bounce back after battling his health issues. His death is a huge loss to the people of Tamil Nadu."
"If he was healthy, he would have been a formidable force in politics. He would have done so many good deeds for the people. People of Tamil Nadu have now lost him. May his soul rest in peace," he added.
Vijay pays homage
Vijayakanth had acted alongside Vijay in his second film, which played a crucial role in giving Vijay the needed success during his early career. On the night of December 28, Thalapathy Vijay visited the DMDK office in Chennai's Koyembedu to pay his final respects. Deeply moved, he offered heartfelt condolences to Vijayakanth's wife, Premalatha, and his two sons, Vijaya Prabhakaran and Shanmuga Pandian, and was visibly emotional during the encounter.
Following Vijayakanth's passing, Kamal Haasan, Jr NTR, along with various actors and politicians, expressed their condolences on their social media platforms.

About Vijayakanth
Captain Vijayakanth, survived by his wife Premalatha and two sons, Vijaya Prabhakaran and Shanmuga Pandian, concluded his public appearances on December 14. On Tuesday, December 26, he underwent a routine check-up at a Chennai hospital, with his party assuring the public of his well-being. Unfortunately, his health deteriorated, leading to his passing around 6:30 am on December 28.
Vijayakanth's body was placed at the Island Grounds in Chennai for the public to pay their respects. Later, a procession will move from Island Grounds to the DMDK office, followed by the final rites scheduled for 4.45 pm. He will reportedly receive full state honours during his cremation.
