Manmarziyaan, which starred Abhishek BachchanVicky Kaushal, and Taapsee Pannu, did not do well at the box office but was praised by both reviewers and viewers. The Manmarziyaan's writer, Kanika Dhillon, recently revealed that these actors weren't initially chosen for the movie

Manmarziyaan writer-producer Kanika Dhillon talked about the mid-film cast change that happened when actors quit. She recalled the massive challenges she had encountered with SCREEN after finishing the movie.

Manmarziyaan writer-producer Kanika Dhillon spent four to five years writing, rewriting, grooming, casting, and getting the project approved. "To find a voice in the industry is the first big step that you have to take as a writer. I was working on Manmarziyaan when I wasn’t that strong. It took me 4-5 years to get the film greenlit, write it, re-write it, groom it and find people to make it. It was my biggest challenge so far," she said.

Revealing that the movie restarted with Abhishek and Vicky, said, "Manmarziyaan started and it stopped in between, and then it restarted with a different set of actors. A lot of people were hesitant to play these roles because they felt uncomfortable that the audience won’t accept it."

Kanika Dhillon continued by saying that every character she met while casting had some insecurities; they thought it was extremely risky that the boyfriend would be commitment phobic and the husband would be willing to back Rumi. These performers ultimately excelled in the part and they appeared to have been selected by destiny.
