Matka OTT Release Date Confirmed: Varun Tej starrer Telugu movie has faced a major setback at the box office. The film which released in theatres on November 14 and had a clash with Suriya’s Tamil movie Kanguva. It had a box office collection of Rs 3.87 crore. After it miserably failed at the ticket windows, the movie is set to be released in the digital space in less than a month. Yes, viewers can get the cinematic experience of the movie soon from the comfort zone of their homes.  

When And Where To Watch Matka Online?

Prime Video has acquired the digital rights of the movie. The OTT giant has announced the release date of the film. Matka is scheduled to be released on Prime Video on December 5, 2024. The film will be available in several languages including Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi. While sharing the news of the OTT release date, Prime Video wrote on X “risk, reward & gamble - MATKA Vasu is the ringmaster who rules them all #MatkaOnPrime, December 5.”

About Matka

The Telugu movie revolves around a man (inspired by Ratan Khatri) who becomes a key player in a massive nationwide gambling operation. The period action thriller film stars Varun Tej, Meenakshi Chaudhary, Nora Fatehi, Saloni Aswani, Naveen Chandra, Kishore Kumar G, Ajay Ghosh and Mime Gopi in key roles. It has been directed by Karuna Kumar and produced by Vijender Reddy Teegala and Rajani Talluri. The film was made on a budget of Rs 30 crore. 

Talking about the film, Varun said “It is interesting to know how Khatri expanded his network and gambling spread across India and affected the Indian economy. We have included a few events about the Emergency and the demonetisation of high denomination bank notes (1978). However, we were not keen on making a biopic.” 

“Khatri came to India during the Partition. The film is set in Visakhapatnam and Vasu arrives as a refugee from Burma. Later, he narrates the story of his early life to his daughter in a fairytale format, referring to his character in the third person. I liked how Karuna Kumar has written these segments,” the actor added.
