Meiyazhagan Box Office Collection Day 8: Starring Karthik Sivakumar and Arvind Swamy, the Tamil film is making a strong impact at the box office, sustaining impressive momentum during its first weekdays, even amid tough competition from Jr NTR’s Devara: Part 1. Released in both Tamil and Telugu, the film exceeded the ₹25 crore mark in its first week. Meiyazhagan has received widespread acclaim from both audiences and critics alike. Directed by C. Prem Kumar, a film that resonates deeply with viewers through its heartfelt narrative and emotional depth.

Released theatrically on September 27, the movie has been showcased in Tamil worldwide, while also being dubbed in Telugu as Sathyam Sundaram. Meiyazhagan Box Office Report

Meiyazhagan had a strong performance during its first week at the box office, raking in an estimated ₹25.25 crore net in India. On its eighth day, the film earned approximately ₹1.10 crore net across all languages, bringing its total to ₹26.35 crore. On October 4, 2024, the film recorded an overall Tamil occupancy of 20.16%. The occupancy rates for the day were as follows: 13.67% for morning shows, 18.75% for afternoon, 21.78% for evening, and a notable 26.43% for night shows.

About Meiyazhagan

Meiyazhagan tells the touching tale of a middle-aged man who returns to his hometown after more than two decades away, a place he had long left behind. This return brings about a profound transformation in his life. The film stars Karthik Sivakumar as Meiyazhagan, alongside a talented cast that includes Arvind Swamy as Arunmozhi Varman 'Arul,' Sri Divya as Nandini, and Saran Shakthi as a younger version of Arunmozhi. The ensemble also features Rajkiran, Swathi Konde, Devadarshini, Karunakaran, Sriranjini, Ilavarasu, and V. Jayaprakash.

Produced on a budget of ₹35 crore, Meiyazhagan falls into the medium-budget category within Tamil cinema. Leading up to its release, the film generated significant buzz, thanks to its impressive cast and the reputation of director C. Prem Kumar, celebrated for his acclaimed film 96.

The story revolves around Arunmozhi Varman, who, along with his family, is compelled to leave their home in Needamangalam, Thanjavur, after a series of unfortunate events results in the loss of their house. Years later, he returns to his village for a wedding, embarking on a bittersweet journey of rediscovery. During his visit, he meets a relative with a captivating, childlike smile, which awakens buried memories and emotions. This encounter prompts Arunmozhi to confront his past, delving into themes of nostalgia, familial bonds, and the intricacies of homecoming.
