JE Entertainment Desk: India is all set to host 71st edition of Miss World 2023 pageant after a gap of 27 years. The country last hosted the event in 1996. If the reports are to be believed, the much-awaited beauty pageant is expected to take place in November or December this year.

Miss World Organisation, Julia Morley, said in a statement, "I am delighted to announce India as the new home of the 71st Miss World Final! I have had a great affection for India from the first moment I visited this incredible country more than 30 years ago! We cannot wait to share your unique and diverse culture, world class attractions and breathtaking locations with the rest of the world."

The statement further read that the pageant will see several rounds to shortlist participants taking over a period of one month ahead of the grand finale. Contestants from over 130 countries will gather in India to showcase their unique talents to win the prestigious crown.

Miss World 2022 Karolina Bielawska In India

On Thursday, Miss World 2022, Karolina Bielawska from Poland met Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant. The latter took to his Twitter handle and shared a couple of pictures from their meeting. He tweeted, "Met and interacted with #MissWorld2022 Karolina Bielawska from Poland, Julia Evelyn Morley - CEO of Miss World Organisation and Team at Mahalaxmi, Altinho, Panaji. Discussions took place regarding hosting the Miss World Beauty Pageant in the picturesque landscape of Goa."

Miss World: Indian Winners So Far

The first-ever Miss World contest from India was won by Reita Faria (1966). The other Indian winners of the competition include Aishwarya Rai (1994), Diana Hayden (1997), Yukta Mookhey (1999), Priyanka Chopra (2000), and most recently Manushi Chillar (2017). Sini Shetty, the Miss India World 2022, will represent India in the Miss World 2023 pageant.
