Mookuthi Amman 2: Nayanthara Undergoes Drastic Fasting To Prepare For Goddess' Role; Shoot Begins

Mookuthi Amman 2 is one of the most highly anticipated Tamil movies of 2025. Starring Nayanthara in the lead role, the fantasy comedy film, directed by Sundar C, is generating buzz for its divine intervention theme. Nayanthara will reprise her role as the divine goddess and recently revealed that she underwent a one-month fast in preparation for the character. Along with the grand collaboration between the actress and director, the film is being developed on a large scale, promising a visually spectacular experience for movie buffs.

Nayanthara attended the muhurat ceremony of Mookuthi Amman 2 in Chennai. Director Sundar C, Regina Cassandra, Abhinaya, Cool Suresh, and the entire cast and crew of the film were also present at the event.

Talking about her character, Nayanthara said, "Playing this role is more than just a performance – it’s an emotion. Maha Shakthi carries a power beyond cinema, and with Sundar sir’s vision, we are bringing a story that will leave an impact on audiences. I’m thrilled to be part of this grand journey."

After her, producer Ishari Ganesh took the stage and spoke about Nayanthara's dedication to the role, he said, "Mookuthi Amman is a divine role. So, she went on fasting for sentimental reasons. Her entire family has been fasting for the last month."

Mookuthi Amman 2 will feature a multi-starrer cast, including Regina Cassandra, Ineya, Abhinaya, Yogi Babu, Ajay Ghosh, and Myna Nandhini, as announced by the director at the event. Kannada actor-filmmaker Duniya Vijay will also make his Tamil debut with this film.
