Alpha X Review: The highly anticipated action thriller Alpha has officially hit cinema screens today, 3 July 2026. Directed by Shiv Rawail, the film marks a significant milestone as the very first female-led instalment in the lucrative Yash Raj Films (YRF) Spy Universe.

As the first morning shows concluded, film enthusiasts immediately rushed to X (formerly Twitter) to drop their first impressions.

The absolute standout of Alpha according to social media is Bobby Deol. Stepping into the Spyverse as a ruthless, powerful new villain, Deol's menacing screen presence has earned widespread acclaim. Film critics and fans alike have noted that he anchors the film's highest points.

Sharvari has also drawn consistent praise from netizens for her dedicated performance during high-octane sequences, with many calling her a major highlight despite some noting her relatively limited screen time.

While the action sequences and background music (BGM) are being widely praised as top-tier, the screenplay has emerged as the film's weakest link. Many viewers felt that the core story failed to match the grand scale expected of a YRF spy epic, calling the plot highly predictable.

Furthermore, prominent early reviews have raised questions over the primary casting, with some critics going as far as calling Alia Bhatt a "total miscast" for a gritty, raw action role of this calibre. Despite the mixed reviews regarding the main plot, Alpha has succeeded in generating immense hype for its massive world-building elements.

Alpha Cast, Crew And Plot

Produced under the banner of Yash Raj Films, Alpha follows two elite female agents (played by Alia Bhatt and Sharvari) who find themselves entangled in a high-stakes global mission involving national security, deep betrayal, and survival. Facing impossible choices while protecting the country, they must wage war against a dangerous international syndicate led by Bobby Deol.

The film also features veteran actor Anil Kapoor in a pivotal role.

While the actioner recorded strong pre-sales by booking over 89,000 tickets ahead of its release, it remains to be seen whether the mixed word-of-mouth will impact its long-term box office performance.
