The classic movie Mughal-e-Azam (1960) is iconic and seemingly unremarkable, with Prithviraj Kapoor, Dilip Kumar, and Madhubala perfectly cast as Emperor Akbar, Salim, and Anarkali. However, there was a proposal to remake it with the Bachchan family - Amitabh, Jaya, Aishwarya, and Abhishek - which is hard to imagine.

When Aiswarya Rai and Amitabh Bachchan were about to star in Mughal-e-azam 2

In a recent interview, renowned filmmaker Mehul Kumar shared a fascinating revelation about a proposed remake of the timeless classic, Mughal-e-Azam. According to Kumar, a producer from the South Indian film industry had conceptualised a bold new interpretation of the iconic film, envisioning a star-studded cast featuring the esteemed Bachchan family in the lead roles. The producer's imaginative casting choice included Aishwarya Rai Bachchan as the enchanting Anarkali, Amitabh Bachchan as the powerful Emperor Akbar, Jaya Bachchan as Jodha Bai, and Abhishek Bachchan as Prince Salim.

When a South producer approached Mehul Kumar about remaking Mughal-e-Azam with the Bachchan family, Mehul advised against it, citing concerns about living up to the original. The producer consulted Amitabh Bachchan, who agreed with Mehul's opinion, and the project was scrapped due to fears of unfavourable comparisons.

In recent times, the Bachchan family has been a frequent fixture in the news, with their latest public appearance sparking a flurry of attention and curiosity. The occasion was the grand wedding ceremony of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant, a high-profile event that brought together the who's who of Indian society. The Bachchan family, known for their close-knit bond and united front, made a notable appearance at the wedding, with most members of the family arriving together and posing for photographs as a cohesive unit. However, a striking deviation from this united appearance was observed, as Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, the renowned actress and daughter-in-law of the Bachchan family, chose to arrive separately from the rest of the family, accompanied solely by her daughter, Aaradhya Bachchan. This seemingly innocuous decision has led to a wave of speculation and intrigue, with many onlookers and fans of the family pondering the possible reasons behind Aishwarya's decision to arrive separately, and wondering if this might be indicative of a subtle shift or upheaval within the otherwise tight-knit Bachchan family dynamics.
