Padmaavat, the historical drama, which starred Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor, was one of the year's highest-grossing movies. In addition to the record-breaking collections, the 2018 historical drama made headlines because of several controversies. Yes, you read that right!

Shahid Kapoor Made To Feel Lesser Before 'Kabir Singh'

Shahid Kapoor recently recalled a time when he was made to feel 'lesser' as a star before the success of Sandeep Reddy Vanga's 'Kabir Singh' as he prepares for the release of his upcoming movie Deva.

Shahid Kapoor poured his heart out on a podcast with Raj Shamani and said, "Ye Kabir Singh ke pehle mere saath hua tha. Mere andar jo kuch tha, mujhe laga ke I am lesser. Mujhe aisa mehsoos karaya gaya. Kisi ne zabardasti nahi ki. As an artist, as a star, as an individual. Mujhe aisa situation mein dala gaya ke mujhe aisa feel ho ke main kam hoon. Aur yeh main kabhi accept nahi karunga (sic)."

The actor continued, "It's like your clothes are better than mine. It's a comparative. Sometimes life puts you in a situation where it plays out in a way where somebody is... you're in enclosed proximity and you're made to feel lesser. It's nobody's fault, I'm not getting into that. But that is what I went through for some time. And I was made to feel like that. And I fought it. (sic)"

Internet users were able to quickly figure out that Shahid Kapoor was discussing his experience from Padmaavat even if he did not reveal the details of the movie set.

According to a netizen going by the handle @narenart88, Shahid Kapoor was a cast member of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Padmaavat. The filmmaker allegedly disregarded Shahid's recommendations at the time and even 'insulted' the actor. In contrast to him, who used to provide all shots and even shoot with Ranveer Singh's doppelganger, the netizen, who appeared to be a crew worker, claimed that Singh, who played Alauddin Khilji, was at the height of his career and was not even giving secondary shots.

The discussions led to a collective support for Shahid Kapoor and his craft. Many called out Ranveer Singh's PR game in the comment section. One of the users said, "Shahid is undoubtedly one of the goats of bollywood handsdown, Ranvir singh can take 5 births and still won’t ever be as good as him.. His role in haider , udta punjab not even shahrukh can pull those off.. go argue with the wall."

Another user said, "He was excellent in Udta Punjaab, but Alia’s PR made it look like it was her film and no one noticed Shahid!" The third user said, "#RanveerSingh and #DeepikaPadukone played PR games to make him appear lesser than them during the time of #Padmaavat
