About Movie Padmaavat

Directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, whose lavish production design captured the audience's attention, Padmaavat earned critical acclaim and amassed a massive fan following worldwide. The historical drama, based on Malik Muhammad Jayasi’s poem Padmavat, centers on the story of Rani Padmavati, renowned for her beauty, courage and unyielding resolve. The movie narrates how she defies Sultan Alauddin Khilji and protects her honour.

The film was not only lauded for its cinematic visuals but also for the performances of the actors—Deepika Padukone’s portrayal of Rani Padmavati, Ranveer Singh as the villainous Khilji, and Shahid Kapoor as Raja Ratan Singh. Ahead of its release, Bhansali’s film faced backlash and became embroiled in controversy for several reasons.

The makers decided to re-release Padmaavat after receiving immense love and recognition from the audience.
