Mukesh Khanna, who left an impeccable mark in the Television industry for his stint as Shaktimaan, recently made a bold remark. The veteran actor will be soon reprising the role of the superhero with a twist that he will be playing the older version of the character. A section of netizens on social media has been trolling him about his decision to bring back the iconic character this way. Now, reacting to the same, Khanna took to his X account and stated that he is not ready to prove that he is better than Ranveer Singh or any other actors who will wear the mantle of Shaktimaan and become the next Shaktimaan. He also shared that he will play the older version of the character to justify the concept and give message to the younger generations of this time. 

He wrote on X, “I have come to clarify a misconception which a section of my viewers are started having that through this song and press conference i had come to declare to the world that i will be the next Shaktimaan. Totally wrong. Let me explain. 1- Firstly why should i say i will be the next Shaktimaan. I am already the Shaktimaan. There would be another Shaktimaan only when there is a Shaktimaan. And i am that Shaktimaan. Without me there can not be other Shaktimaan. Since as Shaktimaan I have to create the Legacy of Shaktimaan.” 

Khanna continued, “2- Secondly i have not come to prove or show that i am better than Ranveer singh or any one who will wear the mantle of Shaktimaan. Become the next Shaktimaan. 3- I came as older Shaktimaan to pass on a messages to today’s generation only because i felt older Shaktimaan will be in a better position to do that than the new one because the older Shaktimaan already has readymade audience for the last 27 years.” 

“4- i came with a patriotic quiz song as older Shaktimaan because i can and everyone should clearly see that Darkness and Evil is prevailing over children of today. In Shaktimaan’s language it can be said -“Andhera kaayam ho raha hai. “ So the need of the hour is, this message should be urgently passed. 5- So rest assured new Shaktimaan will come. Who will he be. I can’t say. Because i even don’t know. Hunt is still on. Till then Enjoy and Learn from this Patriotic Song,” he added. 

Notably, the original series Shaktimaan went on air on Doordarshan in 1997. It gained huge popularity among the audience. The show then ran till 2005. There were reports last year that Ranveer Singh wanted to play the role of Shaktimaan in a movie. He also spent 2 hours for the same with Khanna trying to convince him to go ahead. However, the movie was shelved.
