Munawar Faruqui, who gained prominence after winning Bigg Boss 17, issued an apology following controversy surrounding a joke he made during a performance in Taloja. The issue arose when the YouTuber-comedian was seen making a disparaging remark about Konkanis, saying, "Konkani Log Chu**** Banate Hai," which translates to "Konkanis deceive others." In response to the backlash, he expressed regret and clarified that his comments were intended as part of his 'crowd work,' which is a technique used to interact with the audience. He stressed that he never meant to offend anyone with his remarks.
Munawar stated, "I have noticed that some people are getting hurt over my clip and as a comedian, I don’t want to hurt anyone. Maine jispe joke kiya tha wo logon ne bhi bahut enjoy kiya tha show. Show pe bhi sab log the, Marathi log the, Muslim log the, Hindu log the (The people I made the joke about also enjoyed the show a lot. There were people from all backgrounds at the show— Marathis, Muslims, Hindus). But when we see such things on the internet, and we notice it, we understand the issue. I want to apologise and say sorry to all. Jai Hind, Jai Maharashtra."

Nitesh Rane Threatens Munawar
The situation intensified when BJP MLA Nitesh Rane issued a threatening remark against Munawar Faruqui. In a video, Rane stated, "It won't take long to send a green snake like you to Pakistan," further fueling the controversy. This statement contributed to the growing backlash and heightened the scrutiny comedian faced on social media.

The controversy also drew the ire of supporters from the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS), who condemned Munawar's remarks. This incident is not his first run-in with controversy over his comedy--- in 2021, he faced backlash for purportedly mocking Lord Ram, which led to his arrest and subsequent bail. That episode also sparked intense online trolling and caused multiple show cancellations.
