To Land On TV Before OTT: Featuring Abhay Verma and Sharvari, the film has captured significant attention this year, leaving audiences thoroughly impressed. Directed by Aditya Sarpotdar, this film blends horror, comedy, and drama. It also stars Mona Singh, Sathyaraj, and Suhas Joshi in prominent roles. As the third installment in the Maddock Supernatural Universe, it delves into the legend of Munjya, drawing from Indian folklore and mythology.

Released on June 7, 2024, Munjya received favourable reviews from critics and quickly became a sleeper hit. As Munjya continues to garner enthusiastic reviews, fans are eagerly anticipating its OTT release. Although the streaming date has not yet been announced, there is exciting news for viewers who want to catch the film from the comfort of their homes. Before it hits OTT platforms, Abhay Verma and Sharvari starrer will make its television debut.

Munjya: Premiere Date

Munjya's TV premiere is scheduled for August 24 and will air on the Star Gold channel.

Munjya: Cast

In Munjya, Sharvari stars as Bela, with Abhay Verma playing Bittu. Sathyaraj takes on the role of Elvis Karim Prabhakar, the exorcist, while Mona Singh portrays Pamela, Bittu's mother. Suhas Joshi plays Gita (Aji), Bittu’s grandmother and Munjya’s sister. Ayush Ulagadde is featured as Munjya, also known as Gotya. Bhagyashree Limaye appears as Rukku, and Ajay Purkar plays Balu Kaka.

Munjya: Plot

In 1952, Gotya, a young Brahmin, becomes a vengeful spirit named Munjya after his failed attempt to poison Munni, the woman he loves. Munjya haunts a peepal tree in Konkan. Decades later, timid hairdresser Bittu, who has recurring nightmares about the tree, becomes possessed by Munjya when he visits it. Munjya, now targeting Bela (Bittu’s friend), plans to marry and sacrifice her. With help from his friend Spielberg and an exorcist, Bittu defeats Munjya by burning the tree, though remnants of Munjya’s spirit hint he may still be alive.

In the mid-credits scene, Bhaskar (Bhediya) receives clothes, including underwear branded Munni, which intrigues Munjya.

Meanwhile, With a global box office revenue exceeding ₹132 crore against a production budget of ₹30 crore, Sharvari starrer has achieved notable success, ranking as the fifth highest-grossing Hindi film of the year.
