Vignesh Shivan, the husband of actress Nayanthara, has hit back at actor Dhanush after the latter filed a Rs 10 crore copyright infringement case over the Netflix documentary Nayanthara: Beyond The Fairy Tale. The controversy started when the trailer of the documentary featured a three-second clip from Naanum Rowdy Dhaan, a film produced by Dhanush.
In response to the legal notice, Vignesh took to Instagram, sharing an old motivational video of Dhanush. The video showed Dhanush urging others to spread love and positivity. Vignesh sarcastically captioned the post, saying, "Vaazhu vaazha udu (live and let live) #spreadLove #OmNamaShivaya," adding, "at least for the sake of some innocent die-hard fans who believe all of this!" He also posted pictures of the legal notice sent by Dhanush’s lawyer to Netflix India. However, Vignesh later deleted the post.

In the midst of all this, Nayanthara penned an emotional open letter addressed to Dhanush, voicing her shock at his actions. The actress expressed her disbelief over Dhanush’s legal notice, calling it "an all-time low" and criticizing him for questioning the use of personal, publicly available videos. She accused him of not practising what he preaches and questioned his character. The legal battle comes ahead of the release of Nayanthara’s highly anticipated documentary, which is set to drop on Netflix on her 40th birthday, November 18.
