Coolie is one of the most anticipated movies of 2025, featuring an exciting collaboration of Superstar Rajinikanth and actor Aamir Khan. This Tamil action thriller film, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj and backed by Kalanithi Maran under Sun Pictures, is set for a grand release on August 14. Ahead of its theatrical run, the Rajinikanth starrer has been creating a buzz at the box office with strong advance bookings. Aamir, who will be making an intense cameo in the movie, recently revealed why he signed the film without even reading the script.

Aamir Khan attended the Coolie pre-release event, where he shared that it was the first time in many years that he said yes to a film.

Revealing the reason behind doing Coolie, he said, "Lokesh came to meet me. I didn't know why he was coming to meet me. He said, 'It's for Coolie. I want you to do a role in the film.' The moment I got to know it's Coolie and Rajini Sir's film. After many, many years, probably for the first time, I have said yes to a film without hearing the script, without hearing anything."

The Sitaare Zameen Par actor stated, "I do not want to hear anything. The moment I came to know Rajini Sir's Coolie, I just said yes, I am doing this film. Whatever the role is, whatever they are doing."

When asked about what quality of Rajinikanth he would like to imbibe, Aamir responded, "I think his smile. Rajini Sir's smile is such a smile that he just wins hearts over. But one minute, I want to change my mind. I think his eyes. Because in Rajini sir's eyes, every expression is there. If you are a villain, you are gonna have a hard time. His look will scare you. If you are the heroine, she will feel you are in love with her. His eyes have every expression. So, maybe his eyes."

In Coolie, Rajinikanth plays the role of Deva, a former gold smuggler who seeks to regain his past glory by reviving his old crew to reclaim control of the underworld. The Tamil action thriller movie also stars Nagarjuna Akkineni, Soubin Shahir, Shruti Haasan, Upendra Rao, Pooja Hegde and Sathyaraj in key roles alongside Rajinikanth and Aamir. Coolie is set to face a major box office clash with War 2 starring Hrithik Roshan, Jr NTR and Kiara Advani on the same day. Both films have already stirred excitement at the box office with strong advance sales.
