Mohit Suri, who helmed one of the greatest tragic love stories Aashiqui 2, is gearing up for the release of his upcoming movie Saiyaara. It stars debutants Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda as the main leads. Mohit Suri’s popular films like Malang, Ek Villain, Ek Villain Returns are known to have sad love stories, and Aashiqui 2 tops the list. It's been more than a decade since the movie was released, but fans still can’t get over Rahul and Arohi’s chemistry. Their magical romance felt so real that the fans have long held the hope of seeing the duo together once again.
Mohit Suri has finally opened up about the idea of casting Aditya Roy Kapur and Shraddha Kapoor in Aashiqui 3. In a recent interview with Filmygyan, the director said, “I think you would have to ask the producers. They don’t want to employ me,” Mohit said with a cheeky laugh. “I would love to make a film with this lead, but I have to find a good script. Aashiqui ka burden mere sir pe gir raha hai. (The burden of making a film like Aashiqui 2 is quite heavy on my shoulders.) I need to find a script that is better than it. It is difficult.”
The Malang director is busy promoting his upcoming film Saiyaara, which is slated for release on July 18, 2025. Mohit Suri recently revealed in one of his interviews that he, along with the producers, initially planned the movie to be Aashiqui 3, but it eventually got converted to Saiyaara.

He explained, “To be honest, they had pitched me to come up with a draft for Aashiqui 3 in the beginning. At that time, Mukesh ji and Bhushan were on better terms. I know, they have a very sensitive relationship. They are friends at times, and then they are not. So, I thought of this idea for Aashiqui 3, which is now Saiyaara. But they were in the hurry and wanted to announce, which is something I was not comfortable with. I prefer in having a script first and then make an announcement. But to sum it up, yes, this idea was originally for Aashiqui 3.”
Meanwhile, Mohit Suri’s upcoming project Saiyaara is produced by Yash Raj Films with Aditya Chopra presenting it and Akshaye Widhani producing it. The trailer has received a good response from the audience, and netizens have hailed the title track of the movie.
