Akshay Kumar, who has been dominating Bollywood films in lead role, is all set to explore a negative role on screen. He will be seen in Haiwaan, directed by renowned filmmaker Priyadarshan. During the FICCI FRAMES 2025 event, Akshay sought the advice of Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on taking up a villain role in his upcoming film. The actor also admitted that he wanted to take on such a role, which is why he agreed to do it.
During the event, Akshay discussed his role with CM Fadnavis, and the conversation between the two turned light-hearted and playful. The actor said, "I am doing a film where I play a negative character. I was wondering whether I should do it or not. The film is called Haiwaan, but in the end, I lose. The Haiwaan loses."
Fadnavis encouraged him to explore all kinds of roles but also advised him to continue doing more films as a hero. He stated, “Yes, you should definitely do it. A versatile actor like you should explore all kinds of roles. Ultimately, what is an accomplishment? Even in films where the villain loses, the character often leaves a bigger impact than the hero. That is creativity. But do continue doing more films as a hero as well."
Akshay explained his decision to take up a negative role in Haiwaan. He added, “I felt like doing a negative role hence I am doing it. Mostly I play the hero in the film."
