Akshay Kumar has raised alarm over the growing misuse of artificial intelligence after an AI-generated video of him went viral online. The clip, which falsely depicted him as Maharishi Valmiki in what appeared to be a film trailer, circulated widely across social media platforms and was even picked up by a few media outlets. On Tuesday, Kumar took to his social media accounts to issue a strong clarification. He confirmed that the video was fake, generated using AI tools, and urged both the public and the press to act responsibly when sharing digital content.
In his note, the Jolly LLB 3 actor expressed deep concern about how quickly misinformation spreads in the age of AI. He wrote, “I have recently come across some AI-generated videos of a film trailer showing me in the role of Maharishi Valmiki. I want to clarify that all such videos are fake and created using AI. What’s worse, some news channels decide to pick these up as ‘news’ without even verifying if these are real or morphed.” Akshay Kumar went on to highlight how dangerous such manipulated content can be, particularly when shared without checks. He urged media organisations to be more vigilant before reporting content that could mislead the public. “In today’s time, when misleading content is being produced at great speed through manipulative AI, I sincerely request media houses to verify and report only after authenticating the information,” the actor added.
