Alia Bhatt recently expressed her sincere admiration for Yami Gautam's performance in Haq on social media. The actor posted a still of Yami from the movie along with a heartfelt note, praising her work and referring to her as a 'queen.' Haq, which debuted in theatres in November 2025, is based on a real story. It was recently dropped on Netflix India. The courtroom drama didn't do well at the box office despite getting mostly positive reviews from the audience and critics alike.
Alia Bhatt shared the movie poster featuring Yami Gautam on her Instagram stories. "Queen Yami you are pure craft, heart and all things gold in Haq. One of my top female performances of all time… As I mentioned over the phone too… am a Yami fan waiting eagerly for all your work to once again charm and entertain us all," she wrote.

Alia Bhatt decided to commend the film's strong female character depiction, which may be why she neglected to name Emraan Hashmi, who appeared opposite Yami and is also her cousin. They are related as cousins in the Bhatt family. He is the nephew of filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt, while Alia is his daughter.
Regardless, the audience has been praising Haq widely, with many praising Yami Gautam's compelling depiction of Shah Bano Begum. Her reputation as a versatile performer has been further reinforced with this powerful role.
About Haq
Haq follows Shazia (Yami Gautam Dhar), who weds Abbas Khan (Emraan Hashmi), a rich lawyer. Abbas abruptly takes a second wife and uses triple talaq to dissolve his union with Shazia. The story then turns around Shazia's legal battle to assert her rights. Sheeba Chaddha and Vartika Singh also play important parts in the movie.
