Amitabh Bachchan has clarified the reason behind the postponement of his grandson Agastya Nanda’s film Ikkis. The Sriram Raghavan–directed movie, originally slated for a December 25 release, will now arrive in theatres on January 1, 2026. While there was speculation that the shift was made to avoid box office competition with films like Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar and Kartik Aaryan’s Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri, Bachchan has now revealed the actual reason behind the delay.
Big B took to his blog and wrote, "IKKIS pehle PACCHIS (25) ko thi, ab hogi CHHABBIS (26), pehli (1) ko; kuch jyotish vidya wale kahe, bhai, shagun hai accha, chale chalo, bas chale chalo!! (It was on the 25th before, now it will be on the 26, on the 1st; some astrologers say, brother, it’s a good omen, let’s go, just let’s go!!)"
Big B has long been supporting his grandson’s film Ikkis. Recently, following the release of the film’s trailer, the Bollywood superstar shared a heartfelt note for Agastya. He wrote, "I held you in my hands as soon as you were born .. few months later, I held you again in my hands and your soft fingers reached out to play with my beard ..TODAY you play in Theatres all over the World ..(sic). You are SPECIAL .. all my prayers and blessings to you .. may you ever bring glory to your work and the greatest PRIDE for the family (red heart and folded hands emoji) (sic)."
About Ikkis: The film Ikkis is a war drama recounting the untold true story of Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal. He was the youngest recipient of the Param Vir Chakra, India's highest military decoration, which he was awarded posthumously for his sacrifice during the 1971 Indo-Pak war at the age of just 21.
The trailer features Agastya as Arun Khetarpal, who undergoes military training. It then showcases Arun telling his mother that he is about to go to the war, when she tells him to fight like a lion. The trailer also explores Arun Khetarpal's love story amid Indo-Pak war tensions.
