Anu Malik recently grabbed attention after speaking out about credit recognition for Border 2 latest song, Ghar Kab Aaoge. The track is a reimagined version of the iconic Sandese Aate Hai from the original Border, which was penned by Javed Akhtar and composed by Malik. Following the release of a teaser for the redux version — recreated by Mithoon with additional lyrics by Manoj Muntashir — Anu Malik stated that he expects his name to be included in the song’s official credits, reigniting conversations around creative ownership and acknowledgment.

In an interview with PTI, the composer noted, "I believe the song is recreated. I’m not a part of it. I’m sure they will give my name to it, as I’ve created the song." "They should because people know about our contribution; they can’t get away. They can’t make Border 2 without Sandese Aate Hai… Both Anu Malik and Javed Akhtar are up there in their contribution, so they will have to put our name somewhere," he further added.

Anu Malik further raised hopes as Sonu Nigam and Arijit Singh collaborate on Ghar Kab Aaoge. He said, "I think it is going to be brilliant because Sonu is a fabulous singer. He is one of the best singers that we have today, and Arijit is a magical singer. It will be a magical combination of Arijit and Sonu together, but the tune is going to be Anu Malik. You can’t get away from Anu Malik and Javed Sahab; the song he has written is so great."

It's worth noting that the new song Ghar Kab Aaoge credits both Anu Malik and Javed Akhtar at the beginning. Although the song hasn't been released yet, Anu Malik has already demanded that he be given credit for it.

The film 'Border 2' is directed by Anurag Singh. It features several actors including Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh and Ahan Shetty. The film is scheduled to release in theaters on January 23, 2026.
