Divy Nidhi Sharma, who has written the script of Sitaare Zameen Par, is also the man behind two Indian shows, including Anupamaa and Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai. Both serials are topping the charts. Anupamaa, which stars Rupali Ganguly in the lead, has been winning the hearts of the audience since its inception in 2020. Her pairing with Gaurav Khanna was one of the biggest highlights of the show. However, his sudden exit brought disappointment to the fans. Recently, there has been buzz about the rumours of Gaurav’s return to the show. The Anupamaa writer, Divy Nidhi Sharma, reacted to the speculations and told The Free Press Journal, “I am not at liberty to comment on that.”
He also reacted to the criticism of the ongoing plotline and explained the nature of long-running shows. Sharma continued, “Television shows have a long life. There are periods in which the story is rebooted. The film ends in 2 hours, but television has 2000 episodes. They have phases in which we try to do something new. Many times the public accepts it, and many times they don’t. Especially for Anupamaa, I can only say, we have our hearts in the right place.”
“We always try to say good, empowering, and entertaining stories. If our work is not looking good today, please forgive us and have a little more patience. We are pretty sure that in a few days we will bring the story back on track and everyone will like it,” Divy Nidhi Sharma added.

Anupamaa had a 15-year leap in Anupamaa in October 2024. Following several major characters had exited the show, including Gaurav Khanna.
Earlier, talking to ETimes, Gaurav said “People have been constantly asking me about my return to Anupamaa. “Rajan sir (producer Rajan Shahi) had discussed the possibility of a grand re-entry for the character, and we waited two months for it to materialise. However, the storyline had to progress, and waiting no longer made sense. He, too, felt it was time for me to explore something bigger. So, for now, Anuj’s chapter is closed, but I see it as a comma, not a full stop. If the story demands and my schedule allows, I’d be happy to return.”
Anupamaa initially premiered in 2020 on Star Plus. The serial can be watched simultaneously on JioHotstar.
