The trailer of Anurag Kashyap's highly anticipated film, Nishaanchi, has finally been released, packed with a gripping story of twin brothers with different beliefs. Starring debutant Aaishvary Thackeray, the grandson of Bala Saheb Thackeray, the film is set to release in theatres on September 19. Amid the buzz around the trailer and its theatrical release, Anurag Kashyap's Aaliyah Kashyap gave a reality check to people for ignoring good films by not watching them in theatres. She cited the example of the latest release Dhadak 2, to prove how many films become “cult classics" or “hidden gems years later.
Anurag Kashyap's daughter, who has watched the film Nishaanchi herself, urged fans to watch good films in theatres instead of making them cult classics years later.
Sharing the trailer on her Instagram story, she wrote, "The best by Anurag Kashyap yet yall are not READYYY."
Following this, she shared two posts revealing how good films are being ignored even though they are made and released in theatres.
Her post read, “It’s honestly so frustrating to see people CONSTANTLY say they want “good cinema" but when good films actually release, hardly anyone goes to the theatre. This has been seen with so many films recently like Dhadak 2. And then years later they suddenly become “cult classics" or “hidden gems." My dad @anuragkashyap 10 new film Nishaanchi comes out on September 19th, and I’ve seen firsthand the amount of love, work, and heart everyone involved has poured into it. If we really want good, impactful and meaningful cinema, we can’t just appreciate it in hindsight. Great cinema doesn’t get better with time, it deserves to be seen NOW."
Aaliyah On Struggle Of Critically Acclaimed Films Like Lunchbox, Masaan At Box Office
In another post, she posted, “And honestly this isn’t something that’s new or just happening now. Some of the most amazing and critically acclaimed Bollywood films (Udaan, Lootera, Lunchbox, Masaan, October etc.) struggled at the box office when they released. And why is it that all these films are internationally acclaimed & appreciated but not by their own country? Only years later do people start calling them masterpieces." She further added that the praise feels great, but always comes years too late."
She further added, "Because what about the filmmakers & creatives who risked everything to make them? They don’t get that support when it actually matters and when audiences don’t show up, it makes it that much harder for more films like that to get made."
What Is Nishaanchi All About?
Starring Aaishvary Thackeray in a twin role, Nishaanchi takes us into the lives of two brothers, Babloo and Dabloo, mirror images, but their opposing worldviews drive the narrative set in early 2000s Uttar Pradesh, northern India. The film also stars Vedika Pinto, Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, Monika Panwar and Kumud Mishra in pivotal roles. Backed by Ajay Rai and Ranjan Singh under Jar Pictures alongside Flip Films, Nishaanchi is written by Anurag Kashyap along with Prasoon Mishra and Ranjan Chandel.
