Asha Bhosle-Lata Mangeshkar's Brother Hridaynath Mangeshkar Announces Asia's Biggest Hospital In Their Memory

The music world recently mourned the loss of legendary singer Asha Bhosle at the age of 92, on April 12, 2026 just a few years after the passing of her elder sister Lata Mangeshkar, who passed away in February 2022. Both icons made an unmatched contribution to Indian music. Now, their brother Hridaynath Mangeshkar has announced a heartfelt tribute by planning to build Asia’s largest hospital in their memory in Pune.

Hridaynath Mangeshkar’s Tribute To Legendary Sisters 

After the demise of both legendary singers, Hridaynath Mangeshkar decided to honour their legacy in a meaningful way. In a coversation with IANS, he announced the construction of a hospital in Pune, which is expected to be the largest in Asia. This initiative is not just a tribute but also aims to serve society, especially the underprivileged, reflecting the values both sisters believed in.

A Long-Standing Dream

According to Hridaynath, the idea of building a hospital was originally a dream of their mother, Shevanthi Mangeshlar and elder sister Lata Mangeshkar. Around 25 years ago, the family and a team of doctors had tried to bring this vision to life, but the plan could not be completed at that time.

Later, the family decided to revive the project and dedicate it to Lata Mangeshkar. Preparations had already begun before recent developments changed the plan.

Hospital To Honour Both Sisters

Initially, the hospital was planned to be named only after Lata Mangeshkar. However, after the sudden passing of Asha Bhosle, the family decided to honour both sisters together. Hridaynath shared that the hospital will now carry the names of both Lata and Asha, making it a joint tribute to their remarkable contributions.

Inauguration Plans Of Hospital 

The inauguration of the hospital was earlier scheduled for April 16. Hridaynath mentioned that despite the emotional circumstances, the family remains committed to completing the project. The goal is to create a healthcare institution that not only stands as Asia’s largest but also provides quality treatment to those in need.
