Unfortunately, the pioneers, who revolutionised the Indian hip-hop and desi-pop scene, have a long-standing beef, that no third party can resolve. But, what led to such bitterness between the former blockbuster duo?

The Mafia Mundeer era (late 2000s to 2012) was the breeding ground of modern Indian hip-hop. Led by Yo Yo Honey Singh, the group included future superstars like Badshah, Raftaar, Ikka and Lil' Golu. Anthems like Dilli Ke Launde defined the underground scene, but soon in 2012, the group abruptly disbanded.

In 2012, the group disbanded amid creative disputes, royalty debates and personal animosity, according to several media reports. Badshah and others parted ways with Honey Singh to launch their independent careers.

During a live performance at Graffest 2024 in Dehradun, Badshah said- "There was a phase in my life where I held this grudge against one and now, I want to call it quits and leave that grudge behind - and that's Honey Singh."

He further added, "When we were together, jodne waale bahut kam the, todneh waale bahut the (there were many to break but very few to fix)."

In July 2024, Honey Singh responded to Badshah's alliance request, stating- "I have nothing to do with Badshah and do not consider him an ally."

Singh dismissed the gesture entirely, stating that he does not trust Badshah. He alleged that Badshah spent the last decade speaking poison behind his back.

The brands will not have to pick sides between Badshah and Honey Singh if they would unite for multi-crore festival bookings.

A modern old-school gritty style collaboration between the duo would instantly target both of their highly distinct fanbases. For now, both Badshah and Yo Yo Honey Singh continue to dominate the global charts, individually. While Badshah currently stands as the fifth most-viewed hip-hop artist globally on YouTube, Honey Singh is is basking in the success of his 10-city My Story India Tour following the massive launch of his 51-track powerhouse album 51 Glorious Days.
