Bhooth Bangla Preponed: In a move that has delighted Bollywood enthusiasts, the release date for Akshay Kumar’s highly anticipated horror-comedy, Bhooth Bangla, has been officially brought forward. Originally scheduled to premiere on May 15, 2026, the film’s producers, Balaji Motion Pictures, have announced that the entertainer will now hit cinemas over a month earlier, on April 10, 2026. The project has been a major talking point since it was first announced, marking the long-awaited reunion of Akshay Kumar and legendary director Priyadarshan.

Meanwhile, the decision to prepone the film was not merely a scheduling technicality but a response to the intense excitement surrounding the project. A source close to the production explained the reasoning behind the shift, stating, “Akshay Kumar decided to prepone Bhooth Bangla after witnessing overwhelming audience interest and sustained fan demand around the film. The intent was to bring the film to audiences at the right moment, rather than hold it back.” Beyond fan demand, the shift is seen as a clever business move. By moving to April, the film secures a more favourable theatrical window, allowing it to avoid the heavy box-office congestion typically seen in the peak summer month of May.

On the other hand, one of the most fascinating revelations about Bhooth Bangla is its creative history. Reports suggest that the script actually began as a potential sequel to the 2007 blockbuster Bhool Bhulaiyaa. While that franchise eventually moved in a different direction with Kartik Aaryan, Priyadarshan never let go of his original ideas for Akshay. According to Mid-Day, “Priyadarshan had drafted a sequel. He was confident that if the franchise was to continue, it would involve Akshay. But those plans didn’t happen back then. Later, T-Series took the franchise forward with director Anees Bazmee and Kartik Aaryan. When Priyadarshan and Akshay decided to reunite, Priyadarshan reworked that original draft.”
