Shilpa Shirodkar, who recently came into the limelight after participating in the sensational reality show Bigg Boss 18 in 2024, is a former Bollywood actress. She has been a part of several well-known projects like Hum, Aankhen, and Pehchaan. But after her movie Gaja Gamini, the star quietly stepped away from the spotlight. She took a 13-year-long break to settle down abroad with her husband, banker Aparesh Ranjit and build a family. The actress finally broke her silence on staying away from the show business and revealed what she did while she was living her life in another nation.
Shilpa Shirodkar spoke on Gauahar Khan’s podcast MaaNoranjan about her life after marriage. She shared that the couple moved to New Zealand and said, “To keep myself busy, I did a hairdressing course in New Zealand. It felt connected to acting in some way - with makeup and beauty and all that.” She also told the host that she had even worked in a salon, but the working hours clashed with her newlywed life.

The Bigg Boss contestant further added that she took an unexpected decision and tried to apply for a corporate job. The actress asked her husband to make an honest resume. “I told him, ‘Make my resume.’ He asked, ‘What should I put in it?’ I said, ‘Don’t lie - just put the truth, even SSC fail and my film work',” she revealed. Interestingly, the actress landed two job offers in a single day. She took up a position as a credit controller at Dun & Bradstreet and started a new journey.

After taking the job, Shilpa used to stay tired all the time. Her friend once jokingly suggested that maybe she is pregnant. And after taking a pregnancy test, it turned out that she was actually expecting a child. But her pregnancy was not easy; it came with several challenges, from weight loss to insulin injections. The actress embraced it all with optimism and welcomed daughter Anushka in the year 2003.
