Indian films like Homebound are making India proud by leaving an impactful mark at the prestigious ongoing Cannes Film Festival. The Janhvi Kapoor, Ishaan Khatter, and Vishal Jethwa-starrer, which had its world premiere at Cannes 2025, received a positive reception from the attendees at the screening. Neeraj Ghaywan's directorial earned a 9-minute standing ovation. This heartwarming moment left both the director and producer, Karan Johar, emotional. Videos from the event featuring the Homebound team are going viral on social media.
In the clip, Homebound cast and crew were seen visibly moved by the audience's loud applause and cheering after the movie's screening. It surely shows how much the storyline captivated them. Ishaan and Karan Johar can be seen expressing gratitude for the love with folded hands, while Janhvi can't stop smiling. However, Neeraj, who returned to Cannes 10 years after Masaan, got emotional. He was seen hugging Karan. The visuals were shared by Karan's production house Dharma on the Instagram handle with caption that read, "9 minutes of pure love & applause! Team Homebound receiving all the appreciation at @festivaldecannes!"

Prior to the screening, the team of Homebound posed for the photo session in their new looks. Ishaan wore a brown two-piece suit with a white shirt, and Janhvi opted for a green backless customised gown for day 2. Karan in his signature all-black look.

About Homebound: The movie revolves around the story of two childhood friends from a small North Indian village who are on a chase to pursue a police job that promises them the dignity they have been denied in their lives. As they get closer to their dream, their bond is tested, as per a Variety report. Apart from directing it, Neeraj Ghaywan, along with Sumit Roy has penned the script of Homebound. The film is backed by Karan Johar, Adar Poonawalla, Apoorva Mehta, and Somen Mishra. The co-producers' list include Marijke de Souza and Melita Toscan Du Plantier. Martin Scorsese has come on board as executive producer for the film.
